Self Improvement Classes or College?

Self Improvement Classes

Don’t rely on Formal Education to prepare you for LIFE.

Whilst I have enormous respect for ALL the School and College Educators around the World, who pour their hearts and souls every single day to impart their wisdom on the next Generation; “General Schooling” for the most part leaves us with nothing but confusion and a deep hole in our Bank accounts. And aside from language and maths, much of everything else we learn, rarely gets used.

Now, I am NOT talking about Specialized, Vocational, and Professional courses, that closely resemble training in real work environments. I mean, you can’t exactly learn Medicine or Dentistry from home and rely on your Cat to happily volunteer as a specimen for your practicals.

Besides, I doubt that your Cat would be happy to have more than one of his teeth extracted, just so that you get a handle on your trade.

So for the most part, your real training begins AFTER you had left or gotten kicked out of school. If you got kicked out, then you will have gotten an early start. In fact, some of the most successful people on the planet are folks who had left School/College early starting with Princes Diana, Thomas Edison, Oprah, Ralph Lauren, Abraham Lincoln, David Karp, Benjamin Franklin, Bill Gates, Albert Einsteins, John D. Rockefeller, Walt Disney, Richard Branson, Ellen DeGeneres, Mark Zuckerberg, Steve Jobs and countless others.

So, why is this the case?

  1. Despite all the “good intentions”, what School mostly prepares us for is the J-O-B treadmill, which is a very thorny road to travel, especially if you want to live life to its fullest without worrying about “Job Security” at the top of every hour.
  2. School teaches us that failure is a bad thingwhen in reality failure is the fertilizer that’s paved the path for every great achievement known to Man.
  3. School doesn’t teach us any of the important life skillssuch as Anger Management, Time Management, Task Management, Stress Management, Body Language and all the really cool stuff like:
  • How to stay in a Romantic relationship without using handcuffs,
  • How NOT to drown while attempting to swim for the first time,
  • How to defend yourself from vicious looking Baby Hedgehogs,
  • How to have fewer cancel all appointments with the tooth fairy after reaching maturity,
  • How to deal with loss and setbacks,
  • How to set and achieve Goals,
  • How to have your Creator in your Team without religion,
  • How to breathe properly,
  • How to stay lean, trim and healthy,
  • How to be an Entrepreneur,
  • How to run and operate a successful Business,
  • How to train your Dog, Cat or Giraffe,
  • How to memorize anything for life,
  • How to double your reading/writing speeds,
  • How to touch type and
  • How to live happy etc.

ALL of that good stuff you can only learn in the form of “Self-Education”.

Now, if you haven’t already started your Self-Education journey, let me first say “Yikes!”. And then give you 7 easy, breezy steps to get you going on the road to the sweeter life that your Beautiful Creator has ALREADY designed for you:

  1. Identify two areas that you want to improve in your life– You can choose from Health, Relationships, Wealth, Spirituality to just about anything
  2. Grab a good Book, Audiobook or a Video Seminar to supplement BOTH subject areas
  3. Read/listen/watch the programs all the way through(ideally 7 or more times)
  4. Grab ONE little piece of information/advice each from both areas you’re looking to improve
  5. Get to work on implementing both of these activities first thing tomorrow morning
  6. Repeat these two “mini-tasks” every day for a whole month – The 30-day cycle helps you to weave these activities into your daily ritual, so that they become ingrained into your psyche as “habits”.
  7. After the 30 days either increase the intensity or frequency of your tasks or add a couple of new tasks to weave into your daily ritual

For instance, let’s say you want to improve the quality of the relationship with your Spouse or Partner and at the same time you want to start losing some weight. So, after reading through a couple of awesome books, you identify your daily mini tasks as the following:

  1. Get in front of the mirror each day and ask yourself, “Would I wanna be in a relationship with myself?”
  2. Drink a glass of water EVERY HOUR

And without doing anything else, you will have lost a tiny bit of weight at the end of the month. And at the same time, you’ll have improved the quality of your relationship with your soulmate.
