How to Get a Job After Being Fired: The 4 Step Process to Land Your Dream Job

How to Get a Job After Being Fired

Life occasionally yanks out a feather or two from our wings, just to nudge us to soar higher.

A job loss should be seen as a Golden opportunity to pursue what you’ve always wanted to do in life and not as a setback. So instead of sinking into your TV Sofa and that bottomless heap of Twinkies, make full use of the opportunity given by coming up with a plan of action.

If you had enough money in the Bank to last you a year (or longer) what would you be doing right now (aside from watching TV and knitting)? Would you be busy looking for your dream job? Would you be taking that much overdue backpacking trip to the Moon? Or would you be starting your own Business?

If the first thought that came to your mind is to pursue that dream job, then:

1. Start afresh the following day as though it’s just another workday

2. Dress as you would if you were going to work

3. Allocate your normal work hours toward your job hunt and

4. Study up on Resume writing and Job Interviewing skills so that you can walk in with an unfair advantage (as opposed to being entirely clueless)

Far too many people are doing it wrong. So, you can easily be the applicant that stands out. I recommend reading “What color is your Parachute (the 2015 edition)” by Richard Bolles and “Resumes that Stand out” by Xavier Cano to help you cross this bridge in style.

Now, if you are contemplating on Starting your own business instead then take the following points to heart:

1. Business Ventures, however, small can take up to 7 years to get off the ground. It works much the same way for online Businesses as well, despite all the overnight success promises out there.

The simple rule in life (whether it’s in business, relationships or health) is you can only reap what you sow and only after giving enough time for the seeds to germinate. I tried breaking this rule dozens (possibly hundreds) of times and came out with a very squashy looking face.

2. The only way to succeed in Business is to do something that really lights you up, keeps you shimmering all day long and to do something that you don’t mind doing even if you didn’t get paid for it.
Now that doesn’t mean that you have to love every aspect of it. The stuff that makes your head spin and your ears wiggle, you can just outsource to folks who live, eat and breathe that stuff and have nerdy track records to prove their competencies.

3. Even the most well thought out Business Plans are subject to failure. So, if you don’t have the mental tenacity and resiliency to get shaken, stirred and tossed around many times over and still have an unwavering commitment to stay in the ring until you win, then Business is not for you.
A well-designed and developed Business, once it gets off the ground, can be set to run with very little input on your part. But, it is the “getting off the ground” part that takes hours of work, discipline and bucket loads of disappointments to begin with. You can even say that it takes a reasonable amount of moolah to crank up the engines.

But not every business model requires you to rob Pet Food Stores and a few nice Grannies to finance your venture because you can just as easily work from home with less start-up capital.

A Home Based Business can be used as a self-sustaining Business model in itself or it can serve a springboard to catapult you to a higher playing field (where the Big Boys and Girls hang out with their finest Lego sets)
So, here are a few of the Home Based Business Models to consider:

1.You can run a service based business, by building a website and by branding yourself as the go-to authority in your field.

2. You can setup an online store and get your suppliers to drop ship the merchandise for you. Or you can just sell on well-established 3rd party platforms such as eBay, Amazon, Etsy, and Craiglist.

3. You can sell products and services as an affiliate marketer

4. You can flip domains, websites and other valuable merchandise

Or

5. You can sign up with an already successful MLM opportunity that resonates with your values and make every effort to “model in fine detail” what the top 1% of that Company are doing and recreate their success.

Ideally, you would wanna have a job alongside as a dependable source of income so that your Spouse and Kids don’t have to ration out a pack of skittles to sustain themselves over a years. And once your Business starts bringing in a regular income that surpasses your J-O-B (just over broke) income, you will know right down to the tingliest edges of your spine that you have taken the first real step to claim total ownership of your life.

And yeah, you can quit your job in the meantime too.
