Little Kaizen steps for a big life

kaizen steps

Every journey starts with a single step. And it’s the combined effort of these small steps that you take every day that makes all the difference.

For instance, let’s say that your goal is to be able to lift 200Lbs effortlessly. But right now you could barely lift your Coffee Mug off the table.

So, what you would do is start out with something a little heavier than you Coffee Mug, and do that every day for the first few weeks. And when that becomes too comfortable, you would graduate up to lifting your Cat,Dog or Rabbit and so forth until you eventually reach your 200Lb goal.

The slow and progressive approach known as Kaizen works every time with just about anything you’re looking to achieve or improve. It’s also a relatively painless approach to achieving sustainable growth.

Let’s say you’re looking to lose weight and you heard from your friendly neighborhood Brontosaurus that the real secret to losing weight is to stick with Fresh Fruits, Veggies, Greens, Nuts, Seeds, Eggs and Milk, workout every day and to drink plenty of water regularly.

So, your slow progressive approach to extreme health, energy and sexiness can start by replacing a tiny portion of your regular foods with something healthy like Fresh fruits, Vegetables, Greens, a few unflavored nuts or some seeds.

You would then have a moment of silence to recover from the shock and come to terms with the fact that each step of progression you make, however small, are commitments that you would never go back on.

So after 1-3 weeks of accustoming yourself to your newly found taste buds, we would shift gears again and replace some more of your regular foods
with even more healthy substitutes. And then each week after that, we up the ante by a fringe by swapping out more of the usual foods with the good stuff, until pretty much all the junk food is gone (for 6 days a week at least). And that means you keep the 7th day you can eat anything you darn well, please.

Shifting gears slowly give you the opportunity to grow into your new taste buds to the point that you’ll genuinely start loving them. In fact, by the time you reach your one-year anniversary of healthy eating, you wouldn’t be able to even fathom the thought of going back to where you were before.

But the principle of Kaizen being applied to just one area never yields the desired outcome, because one Kaizen on its own, doesn’t generate any “fusion” much like not being able to clap with just one hand, however motivated you maybe.

Therefore, your Kaizen Game Plan would need to address both your meal plans and your regular workouts. And that is what creates the fusion allowing you to reach your goal.
