Overcoming Failure With a Smile

Overcoming Failure

See mistakes as “paid for Education”.

Whilst I sympathize with you over past losses and past mistakes and any pain associated with those experiences, I also want you to take a moment to flip the situation on its head and see them for what they really are.

Every failure and loss marks the closing of a chapter and the initiation of a new chapter in your journey of progression. And it’s always the previous chapter that sets us up for what comes next (much like how it works with Superhero TV Serials).

So, when something goes wrong and you feel that you’re “partially” responsible for it, say to yourself something like “Wow! That was painful. I guess I’ll never do that again.” or just affirm to yourself that “you’re a working progress”. Then tell your brain to slap you and wake you up if you ever try sleepwalking into that same hole again.

If you still do (due to a bad chicken or something), say to yourself “Hmm! Now I know I’ll DEFINITELY NOT do that again”. And make an even a more assertive commitment than before.  Given enough time (and effort), you WILL eventually break away those boneheaded habits that are keeping you back (whatever they maybe).

Embrace the zigzagging as part of the process. No one reaches a destination in a straight line.
