Switching to fresh produces also means disassociating yourself with all types of junk foods (including the ones dressed up as “healthier alternatives”)and also bidding farewell to all types of processed and altered foods for at least 6 days a week.
The simple rule is, if it doesn’t look like it’s come straight from Mother Nature or has an ingredient that takes you a couple of hours to pronounce, then don’t even touch it. For instance, a carton of “fresh milk” should only contain “milk” and nothing else. Otherwise, just drop it on the spot like a hot potato and call 9-1-1 or the “bad food hotline”and report it immediately.

At the same time, do your best to consume foods in the way they had been given to us by Mother Nature (i.e raw) and to have them roughly in the proportions they had been given. For instance, something like 100% Apple Juice on the surface sounds healthy. And it is. But the fact that it has been “heat treated”and an 8 oz glass of Apple Juice contains as many as 3-4 apples makes it a less than ideal “beverage”. Besides, when we drink calories, it bypasses our built-in calorie registering mechanism altogether.

In terms of proportions, fruits, nuts, and seeds are the least abundant in nature with Water being the most abundant followed up by Greens and vegetables. So, due to Mother Nature’s staggering emphasis on water, we would need to follow suit by incorporating a large bucket of water into our diets every hour. But if walking around with a bucket doesn’t sound too sexy, just go for a glass of water every hour instead. The importance of this hourly water ritual cannot be overemphasized because this one habit alone will improve your health and help you to lose weight without changing anything else.

Taking care of what goes in is only half the battle. Just as important is what we squeeze out, in the form of uninterrupted daily exercise.

Now, if all this sounds like too much of a leap for you right now, start by trying out a few of the smoothie recipes that come with a Nutrininja, Nutribullet, Vitamix or similar heavy-duty blender. And feel free to have a few egg salads on the side as well, seasoned with some healthy oils such as Rapeseed oil, Sesame Oil or Olive Oil. But take the time to chew everything including the smoothies. This allows the Body to scan and register those calories and fire up those warning sirens if an overload is ever detected.
Keep in mind, though, the Body can only register Fresh Produces and none of the processed and artificial stuff. This is one of the reasons why we can eat an elephant load of processed foods and still feel hungry.

As per the exercise, start out with a slow 10-minute walk around the block and build up the duration and intensity of that walk over time. And when your legs start running on their own and leaving you behind, give them something a little more fun and intense like P90X3 to chew on.

You now have the key to set yourself free. And you no longer have to jump from one “lose your bellybutton in 30 days” program to another.
But it only works if you do. So make a commitment today and start doing something (however small) to steer yourself back on track.
